My husband and I have made a New Year’s resolution this year to make a valiant effort to be more “green” for lack of a better word. I hate to use that word because it’s become so trendy, but there are really legitimate reasons to conserve energy, obviously. We’ve done our best to turn off all appliances when we’re not using them, to shut off lights in rooms that aren’t being used, and to turn our heat down to a level that is a few degrees cooler than what we normally would. We have bought power strips for all of our televisions and are doing our best to turn them off when we’re not watching them. These seem like small things to do but they can definitely add up, both in the amount we spend in energy costs and the amount of energy we’re wasting. While we were researching ways to conserve energy we also discovered the fact that we have the ability to select our energy providers based on rates. That’s a great way to save money and we love that we’re both saving a little cash and making the planet just a tiny bit better.
